Presentation Advanced Shooting Techniques

At our last meeting we had another of our Essential Skills presentations. This time we discussed some of the advanced shooting techniques available in modern digital cameras. In the discussion we first considered some of the basics of capturing photographs. This was followed by discussion of advanced shooting techniques, such as long exposure, HDR, focus stacking, intentional camera movement and multiple exposure.

We also discussed some of the suggested camera settings and lens choices for various types of subjects. Subjects such as landscape, portraiture, sports action and macro were considered.

A pdf version of the PowerPoint presentation is available on our web site, so you can review the presentation or study it if you were unable to attend the presentation.

After the presentation Jon Van Daal showed a number of his excellent photographs of drag car racing. Jon explained the shooting techniques he uses to capture such exciting and action packed photographs. Thank you Jon for making such a valuable contribution to the evening.

At our next meeting, on June 25, we have our next challenge night with the theme of ‘Reflecting’. This is also the theme for our upcoming three way interclub with Mosman and Northside Creative, so after our evaluation discussions we will choosing the panel of ten photographs for our submission to the interclub.
