Using images as part of an audio presentation to tell a story

Last Thursday night we were treated to a special presentation by long time member and enthusiastic Audio Visual maker, Steve Mullarkey. Steve stepped us through the reasons for making an AV, the types of AV and then walked us through some examples to show how you can move from a simple but effective documentary to a creative and expressive version. The use of music as accompaniment to the images is critical, as is the use of panning and zooming as well as the addition of video, all aimed at expanding the experience. Steve demonstrated a simple way to make a short AV using Lightroom, which has a few limitations but still can produce a quick and effective AV, all the way through to PTE AV studio, a worthy successor to the popular ProShow software. For those still using Proshow, it is still useful, but since its takeover the renewal cost has gone sky high. Steve recommends PTE AV studio as an up to date alternative.
