Presentation 23rd July: Lighting

Last night we presented our latest topic:  Lighting.  Light is the single most critical aspect of making photographs, so understanding light and using it effectively is a key skill to master.  In this presentation we discussed the nature of light; the characteristics of light; as how to use it and the types of supplementary light we can employ for creative effect.

We had a few members away, but the group attending enjoyed the topic and there were many questions and discussions during and after the presentation.

We also reported on the Interclub held on Tuesday night at Mosman where our panel of photos stood up very well against the other club’s work.  Next year Lane Cove is hosting, so we are looking for suggestions and ideas for a suitable theme that can encourage creative interpretation.  Please let us know if you have any ideas for this topic.

Our Support page has been completely revised, based on topics rather than when the presentations were made. This should make it easier for members to locate subjects that interest them. The lighting presentation is now on the site under the section “Photographic Capture Skills”.

Our next meeting is the “Three on a Theme” challenge, to be facilitated by Hilda.  It promises to be an interesting night.
